CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Jan. 7, 2014 – The Department of Theatre and Dance at Southeast Missouri State University will hold an open house at 6 p.m. Jan. 21 in the Wendy Kurka Rust Flexible Theatre at Southeast’s River Campus to welcome back theatre and dance students and allow new students to meet faculty and staff and find a mentor.
New students also will have networking opportunities, and refreshments will be offered. Students will learn about the spring semester’s upcoming events and student production auditions.
“The Theatre and Dance Open House on Jan. 21 is a chance for new and returning students to mingle and get ready for a new semester of study and performing,” said Dr. Phil Nacy, chair of the Department of Theatre and Dance. “It’s a laid-back department-wide ‘welcome’ for the students and faculty. Department news and announcements will be made about upcoming auditions and special events, master classes and production information. It’s a chance for the new theatre and dance students to meet the faculty and upper-class students and for returning students to get reacquainted after the holiday break.”
The event is open to all students majoring or minoring in theatre and dance as well as those interested in theatre and dance.
The open house is sponsored by the Department of Theatre and Dance in conjunction with the Office of Student Transitions.
