CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Nov. 16, 2015 – Theatre students at Southeast Missouri State University will present a series of short scenes as the culmination of their “Directing Scenes” projects Nov. 30 and Dec. 2 in the Kenneth and Jeanine Dobbins River Campus Center Directing Studio Room 114.
The two-evening series at 7:30 p.m. will consist of various 10-12-minute scenes.
Various styles, from contemporary comedies to classic dramas, will be featured. The Directing I Scenes highlight the work of first-time directors in Southeast’s Theatre and Dance program. The student directors chose their selections.
In a series of short scenes featuring Southeast students acting in the plays, the new directors have an opportunity to turn what they learn in the classroom into on-the-stage public performances. The goal of students in “Directing I” is to improve students’ understanding of the practical as well as the artistic skills of directing for the theatre.
These productions may contain adult content.
Admission to the Directing I projects is free and open to the public.
