CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Feb. 13, 2014 – The classic children’s story, “Peter Pan,” will be presented by the Department of Theatre and Dance at the Southeast Missouri State University River Campus at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 26-27 and March1, 8 p.m. Feb. 28, and 2 p.m. March 2 in the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall.
With eight Tony Award nominations and three wins, “Peter Pan” is filled with spectacle and the fun-filled escapades of Peter, Wendy, John and Tinker Bell as they struggle with Captain Hook and his pirates.
“Peter Pan” is a tale that, like its namesake, never ages. Children and adults alike have fallen under the spell of Neverland, a place where children can fly and exciting, frightening adventures happen every day.
“The classic children’s story of adventure and magic is about growing up and not growing up,” said Dr. Phil Nacy, chair of the Department of Theatre and Dance. “This musical version of the play features great songs, gorgeous costumes and scenery worthy of Neverland itself!”
This exciting evening for the entire family includes music by Mark Charlap and lyrics by Carolyn Leigh. The book was written by J.M. Barrie.
