CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Sept. 10, 2013 – Southeast Missouri State University is listed today among the best regional universities in the Midwest in the 2014 edition of Best Colleges by U.S. News & World Report.

Southeast, which has been consistently ranked by the publication since 1993, is the highest ranked moderately selective public university in Missouri on this list.

“Southeast is extremely honored to be recognized by U.S. News for the 20th consecutive year,” said Lenell Hahn, director of Admissions. “We believe students choose our University because we focus on student needs and hands-on experiential opportunities. Our commitment to access to an affordable, high-quality college education has led to an increasingly diverse student body and contributed to our growth.”

Institutions categorized as regional universities offer a full range of undergraduate majors and master’s degree programs but few doctoral programs.

Best Colleges includes the rankings of nearly 1,800 schools nationwide. The 160-page 2014 edition of the Best Colleges guidebook is available at www.usnews.com/colleges and will be on newsstands Sept. 24.

Southeast Missouri State University has reported enrollment growth for 19 consecutive years.

Southeast’s inclusion in the 2014 edition of Best Colleges by U.S. News & World Report is consistent with other ranking organizations that regularly have selected Southeast Missouri State University among the best colleges and universities in the Midwest.
