University Announces History Day District 9 Winners

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., March 18, 2005ᾰOver 400 junior high and high school students from across the region participated in the National History Day District 9 Contest March 11 at Southeast Missouri State University.

Students from 16 regional schools competed for a chance to advance to the state National History Day competition in Columbia, Mo., on April 16.  All first-, second- and third-place winners, except for those in elementary categories, will attend the competition in Columbia.

The theme for History Day 2005 was “Communication in History: the Key to Understanding,” and students competed in one of four categories: exhibit, media, performance or historical paper.

An award ceremony was held at the end of the day’s activities in Academic Auditorium.
