CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., April 9, 2007 — The Southeast Missouri State University Department of Music will hold its spring choral concert at 7:30 p.m. April 19 in Old St. Vincent’s Church in downtown Cape Girardeau.

The spring concert will feature both the University Choir and the Cantus Choralis chamber choir. Organist Mary Van Hoet Miller will accompany the choirs in Stanford’s “Evening Service in C” and the Vaughan Williams anthem “O Clap Your Hands.”  Also on the program are the “Choral Dances” from Britten’s infamous opera, “Gloriana,” and a world premiere performance of Mima’amakim, a cycle of three Hebrew texts, by Iddo Aharony (a young Israeli composer studying at Indiana University).

Two pieces, “Cloudburst” by Eric Whitacre and “Exaudi” by Jocelyn Morlock will round out the program. These compositions represent the finest in contemporary choral literature and are amazing for their use of vocal effects and instrumentation.

Tickets are available through the Performing Arts Box Office by calling (573) 651-2265.  Seniors and students, eligible for discounts, are encouraged to purchase their discounts. Only non-discounted tickets will be available at the door.
