CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., June 7, 2006 — Beginning with the fall 2006 semester, all University Performing Arts events will begin at 7:30 p.m., as opposed to the traditional 8 p.m. start times for plays and concerts.
“We decided to implement the new start time for a couple of reasons,” said Perrey Lee, marketing manager. “We think that it will allow our events to be more accessible to families and the older population, for those who don’t want to stay out past 10 p.m. or so for a play, for example, and also, for the students. We think it will be better for them, academically, if they’re not at the theatre or concert hall too late at night.”
The first concert of the academic year will be the Southeast Baroque Ensemble concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, in Old St. Vincent’s Church. The first theatre performance will be “Noises Off!” by Michael Frayn beginning at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 29 in the Forrest H. Rose Theatre.
More information on upcoming events is available at the Performing Arts Box Office at (573) 651-2265.
