CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., March 14, 2006 — Southeast Missouri State University’s Wind Symphony/Concert Band Concert scheduled for March 16 has been postponed.
Due to the appearance of the Southeast Missouri State University women’s basketball team in the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Tournament in Denver, Colo., on Saturday, many of the student musicians in the Wind Symphony and Concert Band, along with Director of Bands Barry Bernhardt, will be unavailable. They will be traveling to Denver to perform with the University’s Pep Band, Bernhardt said.
The Winy Symphony/Concert Band Concert has been rescheduled for 8 p.m. March 29 in Academic Auditorium.
On March 29, the Wind Symphony, conducted by Bernhardt, and the Concert Band, conducted by Robert Conger, will perform some of the following selections: “Early Light” by Carolyn Bremer, “The Gumsuckers’ March” and “Blithe Bells” by Percy Grainger and “The Stars and Stripes Forever” by John Philip Sousa.
Also featured on this concert will be the world premier of the piece “Youthful Indiscretions” by Robert Fruehwald, performed by Fruehwald with Robert Conger on trombone and percussion by Shane Mizicko.
Tickets already purchased for the previously scheduled March 16 event will be honored for the rescheduled concert on March 29. Tickets remain on sale through the Performing Arts Box Office by calling (573) 651-2265 or by stopping by the lobby of the Rose Theatre. Discounts for senior citizens and students are available in advance only, and all tickets will be $7 the night of the concert, at the door.
