CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., April 10, 2006 –The Southeast Missouri State University Wind Symphony and the University Concert Band will join forces to present a very special concert at 7:30 p.m. April 27 in the University Center Ballroom.
The University Concert Band features many of the finest musicians on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University. This ensemble uses symphonic band instrumentation and is open to all students regardless of major. The Southeast Wind Ensemble is the University’s premiere wind and percussion group. The numerous invitations that the Southeast Symphonic Wind Ensemble has received to perform at state, regional, and international conferences and wind festivals are indicative of the respect this group has received for both quality of performance and innovative programming.
The program for the April 27 concert will include “Hobbits” (from Symphony for Band) by Johann De Meij, “Third Suite” by Robert Jager, “Overture for Winds” by Charles Carter and “Valdres March” by Johannes Hanssen.
The annual Pops Concert is always a near sell-out event, and this year should be no exception. Patrons are encouraged to get their tickets early to ensure their seats and any available discounts.
Regional music lovers do not want to miss this collaborative effort between two of the most popular bands on campus, which feature some of the best young talent in Southeast Missouri.
