Workshop to Assist Agriculture Producers with Lending, Credit Information

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.,

Nov. 12, 2004 – “Good Credit, Good Records, Important Tools for Success in Agriculture,” a workshop for agriculture producers and farmers, will be held in Sikeston, Perryville, Kennett and Malden this month and next.

Those who attend will get information on agricultural lending, types of agricultural loans available, lenders, and credit and record requirements.

The workshop will be held Nov. 30 at the Sikeston Area Higher Education Center, Dec. 2 at the Perryville Area Higher Education Center, Dec. 9 at the Kennett Area Higher Education Center and Dec. 14 at the Crisp Bootheel Education Center in Malden. All workshops will run from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The workshop is being sponsored by the Southeast Missouri State University WorkForce Development Grant and Financial Fitness Services. Donna Taylor, executive director of Financial Fitness Services, will present the workshop. She has been a financial advisor in Southeast Missouri for the past eight years and has been involved in agriculture her entire life. She brings a down-to-earth, straight-forward approach to the financial side of agriculture.

Taylor says the goal of the workshop is to help farmers find financing and the kind of credit they need to stay in business.

Lunch will be provided by Delta Growers, DeWitt Auction, Hurley & Associates and Bank of Missouri. Those planning to attend are asked to register at least two days prior to the workshop. To register, call 1-888-471-9737 or e-mail finfitworkshop@sbcglobal.net.
