30th Annual High School Art Exhibit Opens Jan 27 in Crisp Regional Museum


CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Jan. 14, 2008 — The Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp II Southeast Missouri Regional Museum and the Department of Art at Southeast Missouri State University will host the 30th Annual High School Art Exhibition, “Exhibiting Excellence,” beginning Jan. 27 in the Crisp Regional Museum at Southeast’s River Campus.

A reception for this exhibition will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 27. Awards will be presented at 3 p.m. Admission is free. This exhibit will run through Sunday, Feb. 24.

The exhibit will showcase pieces by promising young artists in their junior or senior year of high school in private and public schools in southeast Missouri and southern Illinois. This year’s juror is Dr. Alyssia Ruggiero, an assistant professor in art education at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville.  She has a doctorate of philosophy in art education and a master of science in art education from Florida State University, and a bachelor of science in art education from SUNY in New Paltz, N.Y.
