The minutes were approved from the Board of Regents' Feb. 21 and April 16, 2020, meetings.

Jay B. Knudtson Recognized with Resolution of Honor (Page 16)

The Regents approved a resolution of honor for former Regent Jay B. Knudtson of Cape Girardeau, whose service on the Board ended earlier this spring. Knudtson was appointed to the Board in January 2013 by former Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon and continued his service on the Board through February 2020.

Outgoing, Incoming Chairs Present Faculty Senate Report

Regents Approve Conferring of Degrees for Spring, Summer 2020 (Page 84)

The Board of Regents conferred degrees for spring and summer 2020 candidates for graduation. Due to COVID-19, spring commencement ceremonies were postponed. Announcements Following Closed Session

During closed session, the Board of Regents took the following action:

  • By a vote of 6 to 0, the Board approved the minutes of the Board’s Feb. 21, 2020, Closed Session Meeting. Regents Britt, Gargas, Klocke, Limbaugh, Malik and Smith voted to approve.
  • Pursuant to RSMo 610.021.3 pertaining to hiring, firing, disciplining or promotion of personnel and by a vote of 6 to 0, the Board approved personnel actions January to March 2020. Regents Britt, Gargas, Klocke, Limbaugh, Malik and Smith voted to approve.
  • By a vote of 6 to 0, the Board of Regents voted to adjourn Closed Session and convene Closed Executive pursuant to RSMo 610.021.13 for the purpose of continuing the annual performance evaluation of the University President. Regents Britt, Gargas, Klocke, Limbaugh, Malik and Smith voted to approve.
  • The Board also engaged in discussions with legal counsel pursuant to RSMo 610.021.1 pertaining to legal actions and causes of action or litigation.
During Closed Executive Session, the Board of Regents took the following action:

  • By a vote of 6 to 0 the Board voted to approve the minutes of the Board’s April 16, 2020, Closed Executive Session Meeting. Regents Britt, Gargas, Klocke, Limbaugh, Malik and Smith voted to approve.
  • The Board of Regents continued the annual performance evaluation for the University President pursuant to RSMo 610.021.13.
  • By a vote of 6 to 0, the Board of Regents voted to adjourn Closed Executive Session and reconvene the Open Session. Regents Britt, Gargas, Klocke, Limbaugh, Malik and Smith voted to approve.
