Motion for Closed Session Approved

By a vote of 6 to 0, the Regents approved a motion to go into a closed session for appropriate considerations related to legal action, causes of action or litigation involving a public governmental body and confidential/privileged communications between the Board and its attorneys. Regents Britt, Gargas, Klocke, Limbaugh, Malik and Smith voted to approve.


Announcements Following Closed Session

During closed session, the Board of Regents took the following action:
  • Pursuant to RSMo 610.021.1 pertaining to legal matters, the Board engaged in conversation with legal counsel and its representatives on legal implications related to Title IX and Freedom of Expression.
  • By a vote of 6 to 0, the Board voted to adjourn Closed Session and reconvene the Open Session. Regents Britt, Gargas, Klocke, Limbaugh, Malik and Smith voted to approve.


Regents Approve Revised Title IX Compliance Policy Statements (Page 2)

The Southeast Missouri State University Board of Regents today approved an updated Title IX compliance statement which reflects new guidance from the Department of Education regarding sexual discrimination, sexual harassment and sexual misconduct/sexual violence. Regents Table Freedom of Expression Policy Statement (Page 20)

After discussion with University representatives and legal counsel, the Board moved to table discussion and action on the proposed Freedom of Expression Policy Statement until a future meeting.
