Redhawk Kids Camp (RKC) is now accepting registrations week-to-week, beginning June 22 and running through July 31. RKC is for children entering grades 1 through 6 in Fall 2020. Campers must have completed kindergarten and must not have started grade 6. RKC is a very active day camp featuring games both indoors and outdoors, crafts and swimming. Facilities Management will close a portion of Dearmont Circle Drive on Thursday, June 18, and Friday, June 19. The closure will be between Kent Library and the University Center, as seen on this map. During this time, crews will use a manlift to power wash and clean the east side of the University Center building. Magill Hall, Polytechnic Building Power Outage Scheduled for July 3
Facilities Management has contracted with KT Power for a full replacement of the electrical transformer located at the south exterior of the Otto and Della Seabaugh Polytechnic Building. The replacement will occur on Friday, July 3, between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. Electric service will be turned off to Magill Hall and the Polytechnic Building in the morning hours of the replacement. The electric service will remain off during the majority of the day. Steam, hot water, fire alarms, fire sprinklers and elevators will also be turned off during this time frame. Southeast Missouri outfielder Justin Dirden signed as a free agent with the Houston Astros Sunday, June 14. The O'Fallon, Missouri, native boasted a .900 slugging percentage and was 9-of-9 in stolen bases at the time his senior season ended. Dirden was also hitting .414 with 20 runs scored, 29 hits, nine home runs and 26 RBI. He had three doubles, a pair of triples and eight walks, as well. Dirden ranked second in the nation in home runs, while leading the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) in hits, home runs, RBI, total bases (63), and stolen bases. He rated fifth in the OVC in batting average (.414) and second in runs scored.

Southeast Missouri center fielder Rachel Anderson was selected to the 2020 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division I Softball Teams Thursday, June 11. Anderson was one of 11 players who earned first-team honors. A native of Edwardsville, Illinois, Anderson is the sixth player in program history to claim Academic All-America accolades. She is SEMO's second First-Team Academic All-American and first in 21 years. Pitcher Christine Engelhardt was the last to earn first-team recognition in 1999.

Southeast Missouri added transfer Ksenia Shikanova to its 2020-2021 roster Friday, June 12. Shikanova joins the Redhawks from the University of Nevada. A native of Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, Shikanova posted a 7-7 record as a freshman at Nevada a year ago. She competed in seven matches at No. 2 singles and one at the No. 1 position during the Wolfpack's shortened spring campaign due to COVID-19. Shikanova went 3-3 in fall tournament play and 4-4 in dual action in the spring. In doubles play, she put together a record of 10-4, including a 4-2 mark in dual competitions and a 6-2 record in tournament matches.
