IT Installing New Security Software on University Computers

IT is deploying Malwarebytes Incident Response on all University-owned computers. Malwarebytes can scan a computer for security threats and provide remediation for most known malware. Malwarebytes will install during the next computer reboot. IT has set computers to periodically run automated scans; the scans run in the background so work can continue without interruption. However, scans should run after normal working hours. Malwarebytes will report any found malware and provide an option to remove them. It will also report back to a central server to alert IT of any suspect issues on university computers. The Malwarebytes application can be found on the start menu, so users can run their own scan/report when necessary. For questions, contact the IT Help Desk at helpdesk@semo.edu or (573) 651-4357.
