COVID-19 Vaccine Information

With COVID-19 vaccination underway in Missouri, the University is sharing information on behalf of the Cape Girardeau County Health Center. The State of Missouri has divided vaccine distribution into 3 phases (see chart below). For the purposes of vaccine distribution, the state has designated teachers and education staff as “essential workers” that are eligible to receive the vaccination as part of Phase 1B.

The Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center and SoutheastHEALTH have established waiting lists for individuals that are interested in receiving the vaccine. To ensure you receive the appropriate information as an individual in Phase 1B, it is important to select the “essential worker” designation when signing up for one of the wait lists.

Cape Girardeau County Health Center Wait List Registration

SoutheastHEALTH Wait List Registration

The Public Health Center and SoutheastHEALTH are fully collaborating on vaccine distribution, so you only need to register on one of the lists. Additionally, you do not need to be a Cape Girardeau County resident to register. The University will not be creating or coordinating vaccine registration or distribution and is following guidance provided by the Public Health Center.

The state has not provided a date of when Phase 1B vaccinations will begin. The wait lists are the best way to stay informed and be able to get the vaccine when available, since these entities are administering the vaccine.

University leadership has been actively participating in Cape Girardeau County Emergency Management meetings and activities since the beginning of the pandemic, in addition to other state, regional and local response groups. Additional updates will be provided in the Southeast Newswire as information becomes available.
