Southeast Announces Recipients of Competitive President’s Scholarship

Five outstanding area students have been selected as recipients of Southeast Missouri State University’s competitive President’s Scholarship for the 2020-2021 academic year. 'Fake News' Focus of Kent Library Athenaeum Lecture Feb. 19

Kent Library's Athenaeum Lecture Series will present "Fake News and Other Myths: The Evolution of Journalism in the 21st Century" at noon Wednesday, Feb. 19, on Kent Library's main floor. The lecture will be given by Dr. Pam Perry, chair of Southeast's Department of Mass Media, who will discuss how much like the printing press revolutionized literacy, the Internet has transformed journalism through social media and other digital forms of communication. Cries of "Fake News!" and "alternative facts!" abound. Parry will explore how we got here and how we can move forward.
