What a Fall Season for the Redhawks

The Southeast Missouri football and volleyball teams won Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Championships on the same day, Nov. 23. SEMO’s football team won the OVC regular season title and volleyball claimed the OVC Tournament crown. Those championships followed the soccer team’s OVC regular-season title earlier this fall. It is the first time since 2001 that an OVC school has had a top-two finish (volleyball was second in the OVC regular season standings) in football, soccer and volleyball. Eastern Illinois University was the other school to accomplish the feat.

Office of the President Sponsoring Football Playoff Game Tickets for Faculty, Staff

The Office of the President is sponsoring 200 general admission tickets for faculty and staff for the Saturday, Nov. 30, FCS football playoff game at 1 p.m. at Houck Field. Faculty and staff may pick up a total of two tickets when they show their Southeast ID at the Southeast Athletic Ticket Office, 1221 Broadway. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Seating will be in sections A, B, H and I on the south side of the stadium, with additional seats available on the north side. The Athletic Ticket Office is open until 5 p.m. today, Nov. 26; 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27; and from noon-5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 29. The Ticket Office will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 28.

Volleyball Wins 2019 OVC Tournament

The #2-seeded Southeast Missouri volleyball team swept #4 Morehead State (23-9, 12-4 OVC), 26-24, 25-19, 28-26, at the Pete Mathews Coliseum to capture the 2019 Ohio Valley Conference Tournament (OVC) Championship on Saturday, Nov. 23. The title was the sixth for Southeast and first since 2006.

NCAA Volleyball Selection Show Watch Party is Sunday at Wings Etc. in Cape Girardeau

With its Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Tournament title, Southeast Missouri earned the league’s automatic berth to the NCAA Volleyball Tournament. There will be a gathering at Wings Etc. in Cape Girardeau for the NCAA Selection Show on Sunday, Dec. 1. The NCAA Tournament bracket will be revealed during the selection show at 7:30 p.m. which airs on ESPNU.

Men’s Basketball Heads to Cable Car Classic

The Redhawk men’s basketball team will play three games at the Cable Car Classic in Santa Clara, California, this week. Southeast Missouri faces California State University Fullerton on Nov. 27, hosts Santa Clara University on Nov. 29 and the University of Denver on Nov. 30 at the event. Redhawks Get Six on 2019 All-OVC Football Team

Six Southeast Missouri players were named to the 2019 All-Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Football Team today, Nov. 26. Wide receiver Kristian Wilkerson, offensive lineman Elijah Swehla and inside linebacker Zach Hall earned first-team honors, outside linebacker Justin Swift and defensive back Bydarrius Knighten garnered second-team accolades, and running back Geno Hess was an all-newcomer honoree.

Southeast Alumnus Named First Prize Finalist in Grand Prize Virtuoso International Competition

Jordan Redd, a 2016 Southeast graduate with a Bachelor of Music in horn performance, was awarded first prize in the Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competition. The online competition is open to all nationalities and ages in strings, piano, wind, vocal and chamber music. Each discipline is divided into different age categories. The competition encourages young musicians to perform and grow. As a first prize recipient, Redd will perform in Brussels, Belgium, at the winners concert in December. Additionally, he will be considered as a featured soloist with the chamber orchestra based in Italy and associated with the competition during their 2020-2021 season. Redd is currently a doctoral horn student in the Glenn Korff School of Music at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
