FLSA Overtime Rule Changes Delayed
We have breaking news to share with the campus concerning the Department of Labor’s final overtime regulations, which were scheduled to be effective Dec. 1, 2016. Yesterday, a U.S. District Court judge in Texas ruled that the U.S. Department of Labor exceeded its authority in issuing these regulations. A nationwide injunction was issued prohibiting these regulations from becoming effective as scheduled. As a result of this injunction, the new minimum salary threshold for overtime exemption will not be binding as scheduled. Therefore, the new overtime guidelines recently shared with the campus will not become effective as planned on Dec. 1. We will keep you apprised of further legal developments.
