Eastbound Normal Avenue Between Alta Vista, Sprigg Closed for Repairs

Normal Avenue is closed to eastbound traffic between Alta Vista Drive and Sprigg Street for one and a half weeks. Work began Monday, July 31. Detours are posted. All work on Normal Avenue from Pacific to Alta Vista has been completed and the road is open to traffic. The remainder of the sidewalks and driveways on the north side of Normal should be completed by Aug. 18. The street repair work is part of the Neighborhood Street Repair program approved by voters through the Transportation Trust Fund sales tax.

Redhawks Open Preseason Camp

Southeast Missouri held its first official practice of the preseason under partly cloudy skies at the Rosengarten Athletic Complex on Tuesday, Aug. 1. The 113th season of Southeast football is underway as the Redhawks began their series of 26 practices leading up to kickoff at Football Bowl Subdivision Kansas on Sept. 2.

Meredith Nabs STATS Preseason All-America Honors

Southeast Missouri senior outside linebacker Chad Meredith was named to the 2017 STATS FCS Preseason All-America Team. A native of Louisville, Kentucky, Meredith earned third-team honors. Also a Preseason All-Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) pick, Meredith claimed First-Team All-OVC accolades after finishing the 2016 season with 86 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, four sacks and five quarterback hurries. He enters the year having started 22 games in a row and ranks eighth among SEMO career leaders in sacks (8.5) and seventh in tackles for loss (24).

Cleveland Agrees to Deal with Golden State

Former Southeast Missouri guard Antonius Cleveland agreed to a deal with the defending NBA Champion Golden State Warriors. Cleveland went undrafted in the 2017 NBA Draft and recently completed Las Vegas Summer League play with the Portland Trail Blazers. He averaged 5.8 points and 1.7 rebounds in 14.7 minutes per game with the Blazers. A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Cleveland will begin training in Oakland this month before joining the Warriors for training camp in September.

The Alliance of Women Coaches in partnership with the Ohio Valley Conference hosted a regional one-day workshop on Tuesday, Aug. 1, in Nashville, Tennessee. The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its All-Academic team and individual honors. The Southeast Missouri women's team earned All-Academic honors, while Brannon Wright and Christian Locke were recognized on the individual side.

Redhawks Claim ITA Academic Awards

Southeast Missouri's women's tennis program was honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) for its academic excellence. The Redhawks were among the ITA's 2017 All-Academic Teams with six players securing ITA Scholar-Athlete accolades. In all, 720 teams and 3,908 student-athletes across all five divisions of college tennis were recognized. As a team, SEMO recorded a 3.67 cumulative grade point average in 2016-2017, second-highest among all Redhawk teams. Individually, Oleksandra DoroshenkoAnais EmelieIsabella KrupaMila MajtanAnnisa Warasanti and Kseniya Zonova achieved ITA Scholar-Athlete status.
