Southeast, City of Cape Girardeau Celebrate New Roundabout Sculpture 

On Sept. 28, Southeast President Carlos Vargas and Cape Girardeau Mayor Harry Rediger along with a number of University students and faculty, and representatives from the City of Cape Girardeau and Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce, celebrated the installation of "Commence," a stainless steel work of art at the roundabout at South Fountain Street near the River Campus. Chris Wubbena, Southeast professor of art and sculpture area head, designed the sculpture and students fabricated the 14-foot-tall artwork over the summer. The piece represents a gateway to the University and the City of Cape Girardeau.

CVPP Kicks Off 'Team UP! Against DV' Challenge

The Campus Violence Prevention Program (CVPP) challenges all faculty, staff and students to "Team Up! Against DV" and help raise awareness about dating and domestic violence and tips for healthy relationships. Gather your group, take a selfie and upload it to CVPP's Facebook, Twitter or Instagram pages with a message to end DV and support survivors. The Southeast community is also encouraged to come by the Redhawks Rising tailgate tomorrow, Sept. 30, from 4-6 p.m. for fun giveaways and to drop off donations for the Safe House for Women.

Campus Health Clinic Providing Flu Shots Oct. 2-6

The Campus Health Clinic will be conducting a flu shot clinic Oct. 2-5 from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. and Oct. 6 from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Appointments and walk-ins are welcome. To make an appointment, call (573) 651-2270.

Banner, Self Service Portal Systems Temporarily Unavailable Oct. 1

Due to an upgrade of the Banner system, the DegreeWorks server, Internet-Native Banner and Self Service sections of the portal (Registrar, Student Financial Services, Human Resources, Finance and Alumni) will be unavailable from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 1. 'An American Hero' Continues This Weekend

The Theatre and Dance Series production of “An American Hero” continues at 7:30 p.m. tonight, Sept. 29, and Saturday, Sept. 30, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, in the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall at the River Campus. The world premiere of this original World War II musical by Dr. Kenneth L. Stilson, chair of The Conservatory of Theatre and Dance, and 2017 Southeast graduate Cody Cole, is the first time the University has developed an original musical on this scale.

Softball Opens Fall Exhibition Slate

Southeast’s softball team opens its fall exhibition schedule with two games in Carbondale, Illinois on Sunday, Oct. 1. The Redhawks face Southern Indiana and Southern Illinois. Southeast will play eight games this fall.
