Due to the upcoming holidays, today is the last edition of the Newswire for 2017. Beginning in January the Newswire will be distributed once a week on Wednesday, Jan. 3, and Wednesday, Jan. 10, until spring classes begin. Southeast Key Password Change Coming in 2018

Starting in January 2018, all faculty, staff and students will be asked to change the password associated with their Southeast Key; the password used to log in to the portal and to email.  This request is part of a campus initiative to improve information security, protect personal information and safeguard University resources.  While you can change your password at any time, Information Technology is developing a schedule and will notify you when it’s time for you to change your password.  Look for more information after the start of 2018 to include password requirements, procedures and best practices.

2018 Minimum Wage Increase Announced

Effective Jan. 1, 2018, the Missouri minimum wage will increase from $7.70 per hour to $7.85 per hour. The Human Resources Office will adjust employee pay rates, as required. If you have questions, contact the Human Resources at (573) 651-2206.

Women’s Basketball Finishes Non-Conference Play Today

Southeast Missouri’s women’s basketball team wraps up non-conference play when it hosts Evansville today. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. at the Show Me Center. All games are broadcast live on the radio at ESPN 1220 AM. Video can be accessed online at the OVC Digital Network. Live stats are available at GoSoutheast.com.

Men’s Basketball Plays Two Games This Week

Southeast’s men’s basketball team hosts Bradley in a 1 p.m. matinee at the Show Me Center on Wednesday, Dec. 20. The Redhawks then head to Saint Louis University (SLU) on Friday, Dec. 22. All games are broadcast live on the radio at ESPN 92.9 FM and Real Rock 99.3 FM. Video for Wednesday’s game can be accessed online at the OVC Digital Network. Friday’s game at SLU will be televised on FOX Sports Midwest.

Hall Tabbed Sophomore All-American by HERO Sports

Inside linebacker Zach Hall was named to the HERO Sports Sophomore All-American Team on Monday, December 18. A first-team selection, Hall led Southeast with 79 tackles in 2017. He notched 38 solo stops and assisted on 41 others. Hall collected a team-high 15 tackles for loss and nine sacks. He also had a forced fumble and blocked a kick. Hall turned in 10 or more tackles in four of his final five starts of the season, and ranked 21st in the Football Championship Subdivision in sacks. He earned Second-Team All-Ohio Valley Conference honors, as well. 

Gagan Named Preseason All-American by Collegiate Baseball

Southeast Missouri senior first baseman Tristen Gagan was named a Third-Team Preseason All-American by Collegiate Baseball Monday, Dec. 18. The 2018 Collegiate Baseball Preseason All-Americans feature a remarkable mix of talented NCAA Division I baseball players across the United States. A native of Ramona, Oklahoma, Gagan started 54 games for the Redhawks last season. He led Southeast with 13 home runs and 62 RBIs. Gagan also ranked second on the team with 15 doubles and third with a .567 slugging percentage. Gagan collected multiple hits a total of 17 times and rated among Ohio Valley Conference leaders in RBI (5th), sacrifice flies (3rd, 6), putouts (2nd, 461) and fielding double plays (1st, 51). He hit .331 with 23 runs scored, 10 doubles, a triple, eight home runs and 42 RBIs in league play.
