2018 Alumni and Faculty Merit Award Nominations Due Feb. 1

2018 Alumni and Faculty Merit Award nominations are due Thursday, Feb. 1. Nominations submitted after that date will still be accepted but will be considered for recognition in 2019. Names that have recently been submitted (within the past five years) do not need to be resubmitted as they are held over from year to year. Nominations will be considered by a selection committee comprised of Alumni Association Board members. Merit Award recipients will be recognized during the 2018 Homecoming festivities in October. To submit an online Merit Award nomination form, visit http://www.semo.edu/alumni/about/nominations.html.

Bates Named MIC Newcomer of the Week

Freshman Lindsey Bates was named the Midwest Independent Conference (MIC) Newcomer of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday, Jan. 17. Bates, an Oviedo, Florida, native, won her first career all-around title on Friday against Illinois State with a season-best score of 38.950. She also tied for first place to win the bars (9.725) and beam (9.700) titles. Bates posted season-bests on all four events to win the all-around crown including a 9.775 on floor and a 9.750 on vault.
