Kent Athenaeum Series Continues March 28

Join Kent Library's Athenaeum Series on Wednesday, March 28, at noon in Sadie's Place to hear Dr. Eric Clements, professor of history, discuss how he was contracted to write "USS Constitution: A Midshipman’s Pocket Manual 1814," a book about life aboard the most celebrated ship in the U.S. Navy, and review the history and preservation of the oldest commissioned warship afloat. He will also discuss his efforts to interpret life aboard the ship during the War of 1812 using original sources from that general era, and the creative opportunities and historical hazards presented by attempting to narrate in period voice. The event is free and open to the public.

Corpse Flower Predicted to Bloom this Week at Hutson Greenhouse

Amorphophallus konjac, or Corpse Flower and known affectionately at Southeast as "Stinky Jac," is predicted to bloom sometime this week at the Charles Hutson Horticulture Greenhouse. This will be the first Corpse Flower to bloom in the southeast Missouri region. The bloom stalk is currently 55 inches in height and is still growing. The full effect of the flower with its unique smell will only last for a day. For current updates, follow the Hutson Greenhouse Facebook page.

Today Marks 75th Anniversary of 1943 NAIA National Championship Basketball Team

Today, we celebrate the 75th anniversary of the 1943 NAIA Men’s Basketball National Championship Team. Under the direction of Coach C.P. Harris, the 1943 Indians claimed the school’s first-ever athletics national championship with a 34-32 victory over fellow MIAA Conference opponent Northwest Missouri State on March 27, 1943. The Indians went 5-0 in the postseason en route to winning the national title. 

Baseball Canceled Tonight; Redhawks Travel to Austin Peay for Series

Southeast Missouri’s baseball game scheduled for this evening against Harris-Stowe has been canceled due to rain. The Redhawks return to Ohio Valley Conference play with a three-game series at Austin Peay Thursday-Saturday, March 29-31. All games are broadcast live on the radio at ESPN 92.9 FM. Video for all four games can be accessed live online at the OVC Digital Network. Live stats are available at GoSoutheast.com and LetsGoPeay.com.

Track & Field Hosts Drury Hotels Joey Haines Invitational

The Redhawk Track & Field teams host the Drury Hotels Joey Haines Invitational on Friday-Saturday, March 30-31 at the Abe Stuber Track & Field Complex. Participants include Southeast, Lipscomb, Marquette, Memphis, Middle Tennessee, SIU Edwardsville, UT Martin and Western Illinois. Tennis Hosts Two Home Matches This Weekend

Southeast’s women’s tennis team hosts Austin Peay at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 30, and Murray State at noon on Saturday, March 31. Both matches will be played at the Redhawks Tennis Complex.

Seven Gymnasts Headed to Postseason Competition

Seven members of the Southeast women's gymnastics team are headed to postseason competition. Alexis Brawner will represent the Redhawks on floor at the NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional. Barnouski Named OVC Player of the Week

Southeast Missouri sophomore third baseman Addison Barnouski was named the adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week on Monday, March 26. A native of O'Fallon, Illinois, Barnouski hit safely in five of six games for Southeast last week. She went 6-for-15 at the plate for a .400 batting average. Barnouski scored five runs, hit two doubles, had a pair of home runs and five RBI. 

2018 Hall of Fame Luncheon Set for April 7

Southeast Missouri's Department of Athletics will host a Hall of Fame Luncheon & Induction to honor the 1998 Baseball Team on Saturday, April 7, from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., in Kem Hall in the Aleen Vogel Wehking Alumni Center. The special event is open to the public. Cost of the luncheon and induction is $25 per adult and $10 for youth (10 and under). Table sponsorships (include eight luncheon reservations and sponsor recognition at the event) are also available at $200. Click Here for reservations.

Football Youth Clinic Rescheduled for April 21

The Southeast Missouri Youth Football Clinic has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 21 at Houck Field. Kids in grades 1-8 are welcome to register for the free clinic at GoSoutheast.com/YouthClinic. The event begins with registration at 9 a.m., followed by the clinic which runs from 10 a.m.-noon.
