Employee Recognition Program May 2

The 2017-2018 Faculty and Staff Recognition Program will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, in the University Center Ballroom. The program honors retiring faculty and staff and those who have served the University for 10, 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 years. This year, honorees include 72 retiring faculty and staff members and 92 continuing employees. All honorees and supervisors of honorees have been sent personal invitations. Retirement Reception May 3 for Caroline Kahler

Caroline Kahler, chair of the Department of Art, is retiring after seven years with Southeast. A retirement reception will be held from 2:30-4:30 p.m. May 3 in the John and Betty Glenn Convocation Center in the Cultural Arts Center at the River Campus. The campus community is invited to attend.

Studio of Visual Arts Camp June 11-16

Southeast's Department of Art will host its inaugural Southeast Studio of Visual Art Camp June 11-16 for ages 14-college. During this week-long experience, students will explore ceramics, oil painting, printmaking and mixed media drawing in studio-style classes taught in a university environment by art professionals. The camp culminates with each artist participating in an exhibition of their work Saturday, June 16, during the River Campus Summer Arts Festival. Residential and commuter options are available. Donnerson Drafted by Green Bay Packers

Former Southeast outside linebacker Kendall Donnerson was drafted in the seventh round (248 overall pick) by the Green Bay Packers in this year’s NFL Draft. Donnerson is the first Southeast player to get drafted in 14 years. Former Redhawks Mike Ford (undrafted free agent, Detroit Lions), Chad Meredith (undrafted free agent, Detroit Lions), Rico McWilliams (undrafted free agent, Washington Redskins) and Jesse Hosket (mini-camp invite, Oakland Raiders) also joined NFL teams. Additionally, Paul McRoberts joined the Indianapolis Colts last weekend.

Softball Locks Up OVC Tournament Berth

The Redhawk softball team, currently on a six-game winning streak, wrapped up regular season play with an overall record of 33-18 and 15-7 in the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC). Southeast’s 33 wins are the program’s most in 20 years. The Redhawks will await seeding for this year’s eight-team OVC Tournament which is scheduled for May 9-12 in Oxford, Alabama.
