Table Space Reservations Available for New Student Move-In Day

The Office of Residence Life invites the campus community to participate in the New Student Move-In Day on Thursday, Aug. 16. To reserve a table in the Student Recreation Center, University departments or student organizations may register by email at ResidenceLife@semo.edu. Please include the organization’s name and contact person with their email address and phone number, as well as any necessary special accommodations, such as an electrical outlet. The Move-in Day event will be from 6 a.m.–2 p.m. Please allow time for set up prior to 6 a.m., or set up the day before, Wednesday, Aug. 15, from 4-6 p.m.

Southeast Students, Faculty Member Attend Social Work Student Advocacy Day

Thirteen students with Southeast's Department of Social Work and Dr. Dana Branson, assistant professor of social work, recently attended Social Work Student Advocacy Day in Jefferson City, Missouri. The students shared empirical research with state representatives, senators and legislative assistants concerning the "12 Grand Challenges," an initiative spearheaded by the American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare focused on improving individual and family well-being, strengthening the social fabric and helping create a more just society. The students shared how these challenges specifically affect rural southeast Missouri with 11 officials, including State Rep. Kathy Swan and U.S. Sen. Wayne Wallingford. The trip was funded by a grant from Funding for Results.
