Openings Still Available for Rec Services' 'Build a Better You' Program

Openings are still available for Recreation Services’ “Build A Better You” program, one-on-one personal training and nutrition counseling with Southeast senior exercise science and dietetics students. This program is based upon a first-come, first-served basis. The program includes three personal training sessions per week for 12 weeks, four one-on-one nutrition counseling sessions and pre/post assessment and body composition measurements. Cost is $30 for a Student Recreation Center member and $45 for a non-member.

Football Opens Season at Arkansas State Saturday

Southeast Missouri’s football team kicks off its 2018 season at Football Bowl Subdivision and Sun Belt Conference member Arkansas State on Saturday, Sept. 1. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at Centennial Bank Stadium. All games are broadcast live on the radio at Real Rock 99.3 FM. Video can be accessed live on ESPN+. Live stats are available at AStateStats.com. Tickets are available in the Athletic Ticket Office for $25 each. The Redhawks fan section is located in section PP of Centennial Bank Stadium. Redhawk fans are encouraged to meet for pre-game tailgating in the Paid General Parking grass lot located to the south of the baseball stadium. Parking is $10 per vehicle. Free parking is also available in a grass lot nearby, located on the south side of Aggie Road. Parking lots open at 8 a.m. To view parking map, click here.

Southeast Missouri and Southern Illinois Football Rivalry Named 'War for the Wheel'

Starting with the 2018 season, the longstanding football rivalry between Southeast Missouri and Southern Illinois will be deemed “War for the Wheel.” The non-conference rivals, separated by just 45 miles, meet in Carbondale, Illinois, on Sept. 15 at 6 p.m. Each year, the winner of the game will take home an authentic ship’s wheel to its side of the Mississippi River and proudly display it until the next scheduled matchup. The wheel currently resides in Carbondale since SIU won last year’s meeting between the teams.

OVC Extends Agreement with ESPN, Will Broadcast Contests on ESPN+

The Ohio Valley Conference and ESPN have reached an extension of their media rights agreement, which will now include a minimum of 600 conference events on ESPN+, the recently launched multi-sport, direct-to-consumer subscription streaming service from The Walt Disney Company Direct-to-Consumer & International segment and ESPN.

Redhawks Win Season-Opening Troy Invitational Crown

Southeast’s volleyball team opened the 2018 season with three straight sweeps to win the Troy Invitational title. The Redhawks won nine straight sets, sweeping Southern University, Southeastern Louisiana and host Troy. Haley Bilbruck was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
