Wireless Network Update Oct. 3

Information Technology (IT) will be updating the certificate that allows for secure communications to authenticate devices through the campus' wireless network on Oct. 3. Faculty, staff and students should check their wireless devices, including phones, tablets and laptop computers, to ensure they have connected to the wireless network on campus. The only action that may be required is to "Accept" or "Trust" the new certificate. Devices will automatically ask to "Trust" the new certificate when connecting. MOSERS Pre-Retirement Seminars Planned Oct. 24-25

MOSERS Pre-Retirement Seminars will be held in the University Center Ballroom B from 1-3:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24, and from 8:30 a.m.-11:15 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25. Both sessions will be identical, and the seminar is for all employees who are considering retirement in the near future. Spouses are welcome and encouraged to attend. First Cohort of Online Teaching Academy Underway

The first cohort of the Online Teaching Academy (OTA) kicked off on Sept. 5 with the first of five masterclasses. During the masterclass, OTA members heard from a nationally recognized author in online education as well as from the vice president of Academic Affairs and chief academic officer at Southern New Hampshire University’s College for Online and Continuing Education. Over the course of seven months, 25 faculty from 18 different academic departments will listen to experts from around the nation to gain knowledge on online teaching and learning. Cross Country Hosts 2018 OVC Championships on Oct. 27

Southeast Missouri will host the 2018 Ohio Valley Conference Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Osage Centre, located at 1625 North Kingshighway, in Cape Girardeau. Southeast hosts the event for the first time since 2008. The course will open at 8 a.m. for spectators with the women running a 5K at 9 a.m. followed by the men's 8K race at 10 a.m. The meet is free and open to the public.
