Kent Library Hosts 'Are You Afraid of the Dark?' Oct. 29

Join Kent Library for "Are You Afraid of the Dark?  for a night of spooky stories and candy at 6 p.m. on Monday Oct. 29, in the Kent Library Johnson Reading Room. Breanna Bright, Southeast alumna and published horror author, will read from her book series “In the End.” Faculty, students and staff are invited to come share their favorite horror stories for a spook-tacular time.

Sport Management Students Host 5K Fun Run/Walk Nov. 3

Students in SM 360 Sport Event Management will host a fundraiser 5k and fun run Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Abe Stuber Track and Field Complex. Registration will open at 9 a.m., and the race will begin at 10 a.m. Individual registration is $10. Registration for groups of five or more is $8 per person. Proceeds will support the Sport Management Scholarship, awarded each year to a student in the program. The event also provides a practical learning experience for students aspiring to pursue careers in the sport event management industry. Additional activities will include pictures with Rowdy the Redhawk, food, giveaways, music and more. Take-Away Friday' Continues Oct. 26 with 'Social Media at Southeast'

The "Take-Away Friday" series of faculty development workshops presents “Social Media at Southeast” at noon Oct. 26 in the Jean Ann Whitaker Model Classroom in the EDvolution Center in the Mark F. Scully Building Room 209. This week, the Center for Scholarship in Teaching and Learning hosts Dr. Dena Hale, assistant professor of management and marketing, and Katie Amrhein, internet marketing specialist with University Marketing. Social media presence is essential to the Southeast marketing strategy. Hale and Amrhein detail how the University designs social media campaigns and suggests ways that faculty can better align their social media use with the University. Football Receives Votes in Coaches, Media Polls

Southeast Missouri's football team received 17 votes in the Football Championship Subdivision Coaches Poll and 195 votes in the STATS FCS Media Poll this week. The Redhawks rank 26th in the nation on the Coaches Poll and 27th in the Media Poll.
