Parking Lot Closures Planned During Crisp Hall Renovations

During the renovation of Crisp Hall, Parking Lots 2-16 and 3-1, both located to the north of Crisp Hall, will be unavailable from Jan. 2-Aug. 9, 2019. Alternate parking will be available in Parking Lots 2-9, on the corner of Pacific Street and Normal Avenue and north of Grauel Building; 2-13, faculty and staff parking known as “The Pit” along Henderson Street, west of Memorial Hall; and 4-5, faculty-staff and Preferred Commuter ‘B’ west of Parker Hall. For a map of campus parking locations, click here. Kent Athenaeum Series Features 'William Faulkner and Japan: An Enduring Bond' Nov. 28

Faculty, staff and students are invited to Kent Library's Athenaeum Series on Wednesday, Nov. 28, at noon in Sadie's Place for "William Faulkner and Japan: An Enduring Bond." This presentation by Dr.  Christopher Rieger, professor of English and director of the Center for Faulkner Studies at Southeast Missouri State University, will review  Faulkner’s trip to Japan in 1955, Reiger's trip to Japan in 2018 and will compare Faulkner and Japanese writer Yukio Mishima. The event is free and open to the public.

Silk Road Study Abroad Opportunity Open to all Majors

Southeast's Department of History and Anthropology is accepting applications from all majors for a 15-day faculty-led study abroad program to China May 13-27. An informational meeting will be held at noon Wednesday, Nov. 28, in the Art Building Room 206. Faculty and staff are asked to recommend this opportunity to their students who can earn three credits for the UI343 course. The program is led by Dr. Toni Alexander and Dr. Shu-Chuan Wang-McGrath. During the trip, students will learn about the ancient and modern Silk Road, and visit the ancient Chinese capital city where the Silk Road started and UNESCO World Heritage sites such as the Terracotta Warrior Museum, Zhangye Danxia Geopark, Great Wall and Mogao Caves. Believable Consequences in Stage Combat Topic of Catapult After Hours Conversation

"Acting the Fight: Body Language and the Art of Pain in Successful Stage Combat Stories" will be the topic of the "After Hours: Conversations on Art and Culture" series at 7 p.m. Nov. 29 at Catapult Creative House, located at 612 Broadway in downtown Cape Girardeau. Bart Williams, assistant professor of theatre, will discuss the research and body awareness required to create believable illusions in stage combat.
