U.S. Mail Service Unavailable Dec. 5

The U.S. Postal Service will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 5 in observance of the proclaimed national day of mourning in honor of former President George H. W. Bush. There will be no U.S. mail service available Dec. 5 through the University's Central Receiving. However, UPS and FedEx, incoming and outgoing, will be processed as normal. The College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) will host a retirement reception from 3-5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6 in the atrium of Magill Hall. The honorees will be Dr. Mike Rodgers, professor of chemistry and physics, and Charlie Vaughn, stockroom manager for the Department of Chemistry and Physics. Southeast's Double Reed Studio Hosting Charity Concert Dec. 7

The Southeast Missouri State Double Reed Studio's Fourth Annual Double Reed Carols concert and charity event is scheduled for 7 p.m. Dec. 7 at My Daddy's Cheesecake Bakery and Deli. Participants can enjoy delicious treats by My Daddy’s Cheesecake while listening to holiday music on oboe and bassoon. Football Ends Historic Season

Southeast Missouri’s football team ended its historic season with a 48-23 loss to #2 Weber State in the second round of the Division I Football Championship on Saturday, Dec. 1. The Redhawks finished with an overall record of 9-4 with two wins over ranked opponents. The nine wins tied for the most in a season in school history.

Hall Headed to Frisco, Texas, for Buck Buchanan Award Announcement

Southeast Missouri junior linebacker Zach Hall, Montana linebacker Dante Olson and Sam Houston State defensive end Derick Roberson were invited to the announcement of the 2018 STATS FCS Buck Buchanan Award, which goes to the outstanding defensive player in college football’s Division I subdivision. The Buchanan Award will be presented at the FCS Awards Banquet in Frisco, Texas, on Jan. 4, the eve of the national championship game.
