Softball Sendoff 2 p.m. Today from Houck Parking Lot

Top-seeded Southeast Missouri's softball team beat #2 Jacksonville State twice to win the 2019 Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Softball Tournament. The Redhawks won by scores of 8-2 and 6-5 on Saturday, May 11, in Oxford, Alabama. It is SEMO’s sixth OVC Tournament title of all-time and first since 1999.

A sendoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. today, May 15, at the Houck Field House parking lot as the Softball Redhawks hit the road for the NCAA Softball Regional at Ole Miss in Oxford, Mississippi. SEMO (45-16) will join host Ole Miss (37-17), Chattanooga (37-15) and Louisiana (50-4) at the four-team Regional. The Redhawks will face #7 Louisiana in their first game of the NCAA Tournament on Friday, May 17, at 3:30 p.m., CT. Video for all games in the Oxford Regional is available online at ESPN3. Step Up! Training Scheduled June 11

Join Southeast's Campus Violence Prevention Program and Counseling and Disability Services for an interactive Step UP! Training from 10-11:30 a.m. June 11 in the University Center Mississippi Room. Registration is not necessary; walk-ins are welcome. The training is for faculty, staff and students to develop skills and confidence to prevent violence on campus. Step UP! is a prosocial behavior and bystander intervention program that is effective in the prevention of interpersonal violence as well as other risky situations common to the college community. During this training, participants will develop skills to engage students in the five steps of intervention and gain confidence to guide students to campus resources. Step UP! received a National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) Gold Award and recently was identified as a "Best Practice" by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Sports Science Institute of national and international scholars. CSTL 'This Old Course' Continues May 16

The Center for Scholarship in Teaching and Learning's (CSTL) "This Old Course" series continues May 16 with "Theory and Scaffolding" presented by Kris Baranovic, CSTL instructional design specialist. During this session, learn about how with a clear view of course elements that must remain or must go, a new course blueprint is in order. This workshop identifies essential course elements, explores possible directions for negotiable elements, and locates situations in the class requiring additional scaffolding. The "This Old Course" series provides workshops geared to renovate any course from the foundation up. Faculty may attend one or all sessions. Redburn Named OVC Coach of the Year, Anderson Wins Player of the Year

 Mark Redburn was named Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Coach of the Year and center fielder Rachel Anderson was voted the league’s Player of the Year during the pre-OVC Tournament banquet on Tuesday, May 7. First baseman Ashley Ellis and pitcher Haley Thogmartin joined Anderson as first-team all-conference selections, while left fielder Claudia Gallo garnered second-team accolades.

Arellanes Named to Google Cloud CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

Southeast Missouri right fielder Mykaela Arellanes was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District 6 Division I Softball Team, selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). A native of Foristell, Missouri, Arellanes owns a 3.90 grade point average and is pursuing a major in criminal justice. As a First-team Academic All-District® honoree, Arellanes advances to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third- team (when selected) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in June.

Baseball Travels to Morehead State for Final Series

The Redhawk baseball team travels to Morehead State University for its final series of the season. SEMO and Morehead open a three-game series on Thursday, May 16. The Redhawks are currently eighth in the Ohio Valley Conference standings and Morehead is fourth. The top-eight teams make the league’s postseason tournament which begins next week at Rent One Park in Marion, Illinois.

Loni Kreun Joins Volleyball Coaching Staff

Southeast Missouri Volleyball Head Coach Julie Yankus announced on Tuesday, May 14, the addition of Loni Kreun as assistant coach. Kreun most recently spent a season as the volunteer assistant coach at University of North Carolina - Charlotte. At Charlotte, she helped in the development of two-time Conference USA's Libero of the Year Yumi Garcia and Tyra Galloway who earned American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) South Region Freshman of the Year and Conference USA's Defensive Player of the Year.

Mike Geary, Sakellie Daniels Hired as Assistant Women's Basketball Coaches

Southeast Missouri Head Women’s Basketball Coach Rekha Patterson announced the addition of Mike Geary and Sakellie Daniels to the coaching staff on Monday, May 13. Geary was hired as the Redhawks Associate Head Coach after spending one season as an assistant at Rhode Island. Daniels joins the Redhawks after working two seasons as the coordinator of program and player development at the University of Miami.
