Training Exercise Being Conducted at Cheney Hall Today

The Missouri National Guard’s Civil Support Team (CST) is conducting a full-scale exercise -- Shaken Fury 2019 -- in locations across Cape Girardeau, including Cheney Hall at Southeast Missouri State University today. The scenario is based on a 7.7 magnitude earthquake, and chemical and biological hazard training is being conducted in Cheney Hall. As part of the training, military personnel and their vehicles, equipment are on Southeast’s main campus as they participate in various exercises. For additional information, contact Southeast’s Department of Public Safety at (573) 651-2215.

Step Up! Training Scheduled June 11

Join Southeast's Campus Violence Prevention Program and Counseling and Disability Services for an interactive Step UP! Training from 10-11:30 a.m. June 11 in the University Center Mississippi Room. Registration is not necessary; walk-ins are welcome. The training is for faculty, staff and students to develop skills and confidence to prevent violence on campus. Step UP! is a prosocial behavior and bystander intervention program that is effective in the prevention of interpersonal violence as well as other risky situations common to the college community. During this training, participants will develop skills to engage students in the five steps of intervention and gain confidence to guide students to campus resources. Step UP! received a National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) Gold Award and recently was identified as a "Best Practice" by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Sports Science Institute of national and international scholars. Anderson Named NFCA All-American

Southeast Missouri center fielder Rachel Anderson was named to the 2019 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division I All-America Team on May 29. Anderson, who earned third-team honors, is SEMO's sixth All-American in program history. The Redhawks first softball All-American in 28 years, Anderson is the first player to claim All-America honors during the program's NCAA Division I era (since 1992). Karen Hudson and Alice Marler were SEMO's last All-Americans in 1991.

Fischer Named to Team Canada Delegation

Southeast Missouri's Alana Fischer was named to Team Canada for the 2019 Fédération Internationale du Sport Universitaire (FISU) Summer Universiade in Naples, Italy. Fischer will compete in artistic gymnastics for Team Canada. The opening ceremony will be held on July 3 at 2 p.m. Qualifying rounds for artistic gymnastics will begin on July 3, with finals following the next four days at the PalaVesuvio Main Hall.
