State of the University Address to be Delivered Today at ConvocationDr. Carlos Vargas, president of Southeast Missouri State University, will deliver the State of the University Address at the annual Faculty and Staff Convocation at 3:30 p.m. today, Oct. 15, in Academic Hall Auditorium. A reception will be held immediately following, compliments of Chartwells. A video recording of the address and State of the University materials will be available online after the event at https://semo.edu/president/initiatives/state-of-the-university.html. Safe Trick-or-Treat Returns to Southeast Oct. 28Faculty, staff, students and their children, Little Sisters or Brothers, or mentees are invited to a Safe Trick-or-Treat which returns to Southeast Monday, Oct. 28. The event, hosted by Southeast Serves, Vandiver Hall and Gamma Sigma Sigma, will be held from 6-9 p.m. at Vandiver Hall, located at 350 N. Henderson. Children ages 10 and under may receive candy from participating residents and engage in fun Halloween crafts in a safe and welcoming environment. Southeast Missouri's women's basketball program is inviting students from area schools to attend an educational field trip to the Show Me Center for its special "Classroom on the Court" game against University of Missouri-St. Louis on Nov. 5. Tipoff is set for 11 a.m. The classed in attendance will receive worksheets that will highlight the educational skills used in the game of basketball and throughout life. The Redhawk softball team plays two exhibition doubleheaders at home this week. Southeast Missouri hosts John A. Logan College in a 3 p.m. twin bill on Wednesday, Oct. 16, and Olney Central College in a 3 p.m. doubleheader on Thursday, Oct. 17. All games will be played at the Southeast Softball Complex.
