CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Jan. 14, 2013 – Southeast Missouri State University will present “A Chorus Line,” winner of nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and recipient of the Pulitzer Prize for drama, at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 28 in the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall on Southeast’s River Campus.
Earl and Margie Holland, for whom the Earl and Margie Holland School of Visual and Performing Arts at Southeast is named, have selected “A Chorus Line” as their special choice event this season at the River Campus.
In an empty theatre, casting for a new Broadway musical is almost complete. For 17 dancers, this audition is the chance of a lifetime.
Bob Cerchio, assistant director of the Holland School, explained, “Of all the Broadway Musicals ever produced, ‘A Chorus Line’ is undeniably one of the best. Based on the lives of real dancers, it embodies the struggle of many in the arts, trying for that one last role. But it goes beyond that as even the most common person can relate to the eternal quest for work – or acceptance – or love. Do not miss this show.”
This musical is for everyone who has ever had a dream and put it on the line. This singular sensation is the longest-running American Broadway musical ever. Now “A Chorus Line” returns. Come meet the new generation of Broadway’s best.
