CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Jan. 22, 2016 – Southeast Missouri State University’s online healthcare management programs have been ranked this week among the top 10 Best Online Healthcare Administration Degrees for 2015-2016 by Affordable Colleges Online.
Southeast’s online healthcare management programs at the bachelor’s master’s and certificate levels were ranked seventh nationally and the highest among Missouri institutions.
The bachelor’s program is designed for those who currently work in healthcare but wish to move from direct patient care into management roles, and for students who have studied in a clinical field but have decided to pursue a non-clinical role instead. Participants choose one of two tracks in the program: quality and patient safety, or informatics. At the master’s level, most students are currently employed in healthcare and seeking to advance their roles. Program options include quality and patient safety, informatics, communication, administration, or a general option that combines one course from each area.
“As a regional University, our focus is providing a quality education that is affordable and accessible,” says Dr. Heather McMillan, director of the Harrison College of Business Healthcare Programs. “Our ranking on the Affordable Colleges list for our new healthcare management programs is a great indicator that we are on the right track.”
Healthcare is one of the largest industries in the United States, with a work force expected to expand by three million jobs by 2016.
“It was important to highlight school across the country that are setting the standard for an online degree in healthcare,” said Dan Schuessler, CEO and founder of AC Online. “With over 11 million health care jobs in our economy, these institutions are ensuring growth in a dynamic field.”
“Healthcare Management is a growing segment in the workforce, and one that is predicted to continue to grow,” McMillan says, “Our ranking on the Affordable Colleges list is an excellent indicator of the marketability and affordability of these programs.”
Affordable Colleges Online is a leading resource for online learning and college affordability information. It assessed schools that are public or private, not-for-profit institutions, offering at least one fully-online bachelor’s degree program, academic and counseling services and job placement for graduates. Affordable Colleges Online used its Peer-Based Value or PBV for its ranking scale. The PBV score compares the cost of each program to the cost of similar programs with the same qualitative score. These factors were selected in weighing how a school’s programs are being delivered and their effectiveness at awarding affordable degrees in a reasonable amount of time.
