CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Nov. 8, 2006 — The Southeast Missouri State University Peer Education Association will hold a community AIDS Awareness Walk Nov. 29.
The walk commemorates World AIDS Day later that same week.
“All students and community members are invited to take a stand and help everyone remember all persons living with or dying from AIDS,” said William Washington, president of the Peer Education Association.
The walk is planned to begin at 7 p.m. at the Beanery Cafe/University Center. Candles will be provided. Peer educators will distribute information flyers and collect donations for the Southeast Missouri Hospital AIDS Education Program. The walk will proceed east on Broadway to Main Street, where a short educational presentation will take place.
AIDS Awareness lapel pins will be given to the first 100 participants.
