‘America’s Job Search Guru’ Don Asher to Present at Southeast



Feb. 2, 2009 – Southeast Missouri State University will host two sessions by Don Asher, known as “America’s Job Search Guru” and as a regular contributor to the Wall Street Journal and MSN.

Asher’s first presentation, entitled “How to Get Any Job with Any Major: How to Beat 1000 to One Odds to Win Your Dream Job or Internship,” will be held at 7 p.m. Feb. 3 in Glenn Auditorium in Southeast’s Robert A. Dempster Hall.

Additionally, Asher will present “Strategies to Gain Admission to Highly Competitive Graduate Programs” to students at noon Feb. 4 in Dempster Hall Room 124.

Asher, an internationally acclaimed author and speaker specializing in careers and higher education, is a consultant to universities nationwide on the hidden job market and self-directed-search issues. He speaks at more than 100 colleges and universities annually.

Asher is a contributor to the Wall Street Journal’s online editions CareerJournal.com and CollegeJournal.com, and he is an education columnist for MSN Encarta. He is the author of 10 books, including Who Gets Promoted, Who Doesn’t, and Why, which was named a top 10 business book of the year by national career columnist Joyce Lain Kennedy, and Graduate Admissions Essays: Write Your Way into the Graduate Program of Your Choice, a best-selling guide to the graduate admissions process.
