“The Annual Juried Student Exhibition” will be displayed in the Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp II Museum at Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus April 6-29.
An opening reception for the exhibiting students is scheduled for 4-8 p.m. April 6 and is open to the public. The awards ceremony will be held at 5 p.m. in the John and Betty Glenn Convocation Center.
Merit awards and honorable mention awards will be presented in each of the following categories: Color Composition/Design Foundations, 3D, Drawing, Painting, Fibers, Graphic Design/Illustration, Digital Art, Printmaking, Ceramics and Sculpture. Best in Show and the Distinguished Merit Award will also be presented.
“The exhibition showcases the great work that Southeast students produce,” said Peter Nguyen, Museum director. “It is a competition, and it is an honor to be selected to participate in the exhibit. Many of the works will be available for purchase.”
This year’s jurors are Sphere artist collective members Brian Patrick Franklin, associate professor of expanded media at Illinois State University, and Christopher Wille, professor of art at Eureka College.
Franklin received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the State University of New York at Fredonia and a Master of Fine Arts from Pennsylvania State University. Wille received a Bachelor of Arts from Eastern Illinois University and a Master of Fine Arts from Illinois State University.
Sphere’s work has been exhibited and presented in traditional galleries as well as prominent festivals and conferences including The World Maker Faire in New York City, New York, The Digital Games Research Association Annual Summit in Salt Lake City, Utah, “Chicago Games as Art and Culture,” at Dittmar Memorial Gallery, Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, and the “Stimulus/Response/Affect” exhibition and symposium at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan.

The Crisp Museum is located in the Cultural Arts Center at Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus, located at 518 S. Fountain St. in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
