Mideast meets Midwest, a joint venture between Southeast, Missouri State University and the University of Central Missouri regarding Middle Eastern Studies, is currently accepting applications for faculty-student collaborative research grants. Awards of up to $2,500 will be offered to teams from any academic discipline that consist of at least one faculty member and one undergraduate student conducting innovative research on the Middle East.
The grant supports innovative research to give undergraduate students professional research experience. Funding can be used to support any expenses related to the research project, but at least some of the grant money should directly benefit the student team member.
First consideration will be given to applications that are submitted by May 15, and applications will continue to be considered after the deadline on a rolling basis as funds permit.
Mideast meets Midwest aims to enhance Middle Eastern Studies and is supported through an Undergraduate International Studies and Foreign Languages (UISFL) grant from the U.S. Department of Education. Once approved, grants must be used by Sept. 30, and recipients must submit a one-page final summary of the project by March 15, 2020.
To submit a proposal, each faculty-student team should submit a proposal maximum three single-spaced pages in length that includes the following information:
• Name, contact information and departmental affiliation for all team members
• Project description
• Description of the student’s role in the research project
• Detailed budget
• Expected result of the research (i.e. conference presentation, article manuscript, etc.)
• CV for faculty team members (not included in the three-page limit)
• Transcript for all student team members (not included in the three-page limit)
