Applications are open for the President’s Leadership Academy (PLA), the top tier of the Southeast Leadership Programs, for students who have demonstrated important leadership qualities in their on- and off-campus leadership roles.
PLA is a non-credit-bearing leadership class during the fall semester for 20 of Southeast’s most outstanding junior and senior student leaders. In PLA, participants will network with and learn from other student leaders as well as University and community leaders. Participants will be exposed to various leadership material to analyze, reflect on their experiences, and share their thoughts and perspectives. They will also learn how to apply leadership competencies to improve their competitiveness for employment as early career professionals and become responsible leaders within their respective university communities and beyond.
One of the major aspects of PLA is putting leadership skills into action through the Southeast Success Project, aimed at enhancing the student experience at Southeast. Participants will work in groups on a detailed proposal to pitch to University leaders, including the University President.
Faculty and staff are encouraged to invite students to apply for the Fall 2021 President’s Leadership Academy. To be considered for the program, students must currently:
- Be in at least their second year of college (preference given to students with at least 2 semesters left to complete their undergraduate degree);
- Be an active leader in at least one student organization, team, or community group;
- Be in good judicial standing; and
- Have a cumulative 2.75 GPA or higher.
To apply for the Fall 2021 President’s Leadership Academy, students must submit the PLA Application Form by 11:59 p.m. Sunday, April 18.
