Openings Remain for Theatre Summer Academy's Acting Intensive, Super Hero Stage Combat, Jedi Training Camps
06/05/2017

Openings are still available for the Theatre Summer Academy's three camps at Southeast's River Campus. Acting Intensive Overview, an acting workshop for both resident and commuter students in grades 8-12, runs June 12-17. Participants will have the opportunity to perform twice for the public at the River Campus Summer Arts Festival on Saturday, June 17. Superhero Stage Combat, a skills-training and performance day-camp workshop for elementary and middle school students, is slated for 9 a.m.-noon June 19-23. This class will focus on teaching unarmed and found-object stage combat techniques and, most importantly, super-power reactions. Participants will create their own comic-book caper and costume in five days. If your child has wondered what it would be like to be Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman or Squirrel Girl, this is their chance! The class features a mini-performance for friends and family on Friday, June 23. Jedi Training is scheduled for 1-4 p.m. June 19-23. Middle and high school students will focus on Western European broadsword and Eastern sabre-sword techniques, and the class is taught with sound-and-light combat-ready light-sabres! Are you ready to feel the force? Participants will bring out their inner Rey, Luke, Anakin, Darth Maul or Obi Wan and get a chance to perform for friends and family at the end of class on Friday, June 23!
