Area Students Awarded College Goal Sunday Scholarships

Two area students were awarded the College Goal Sunday Scholarship Feb. 8 at Southeast Missouri State University.

Tabatha Johnson of East Prairie, Mo., and Gabriel Gross of Gordonville, Mo., both high school seniors, are the recipients of the scholarships. Johnson plans to attend Southeast Missouri State University beginning next fall.

College Goal Sunday is a one-day event to provide hands-on assistance to parents and students in completing the 2004-2005 Free Application for Federal Student Aid. The event on the Southeast campus was one of eight held throughout the state.

The scholarships, each valued at $300, are to be used toward the cost of incidental fees. The scholarships were awarded at each of the sites and were provided by sponsors of the event, including the Lumina Foundation and the Missouri Association of Student Financial Aid Personnel.

Karen Walker, director of Financial Aid and site coordinator, presented the scholarships.
