Southeast Art Students’ Work on Display in Juried Exhibition


art student cropped 2CAPE GIRARDEAU, Missouri, March 30, 2015 — The Annual Juried Student Exhibition is being hosted by the Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp II Museum April 10-26.

The public is invited to an opening reception from 4-8 p.m. April 10.

The Annual Juried Student Exhibition showcases the creative talents of the Department of Art students at Southeast.

Merit awards and honorable mention awards will be presented in each of the following categories: Color Composition/Design Foundations, 3D, Drawing, Painting, Fibers, Graphic Design/Illustration, Digital Art, Printmaking, Ceramics and Sculpture. Best in Show and the  Distinguished Merit Award also will be presented.

This is a significant show for Southeast students, showcasing selected works that have been created within the past year. Many of the works on view will be available for purchase.

Each year, a professional artist is selected to act as juror for the Department of Art’s Annual Juried Student Exhibition and to exhibit a solo show of their own work.

This year’s juror is Chris Kahler, professor of painting and drawing as well as the graduate coordinator for the Department of Art at Eastern Illinois University. In addition to serving as the juror for the Department of Art Annual Juried Student Exhibition, Kahler also displayed a solo exhibition, “Chris Kahler”Emanations,” of his work featuring his abstract and vividly colored paintings March 9-31 in the River Campus Art Gallery.

The Crisp Museum is located in the Cultural Arts Center at Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus, located at 518 S. Fountain St. in Cape Girardeau, Mo. Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday to Friday and 1-4 p.m. on weekends. For more information, call (573) 651-2260 or email
