Student artworks from Southeast Missouri State University’s Art Academy 2019 workshops will be on display Aug. 2-30 at the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri and Visual Arts Cooperative, located at 16 N. Spanish Street.
The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri will host an opening reception on the First Friday, Aug. 2, from 5-8 p.m.
“The Summer Art Academy provided engaging and creative art-making experiences in a wide variety of media,” said Carol Horst, instructor and area head of the art education at Southeast.
This year’s academy featured an extensive list of workshops under the guidance of experienced and highly qualified art instructors and art professors. Southeast students in art education also assisted with the workshops. The classes included Futuristic Fun; Drawing with Imagination; Cartooned; Character Creation; Painting; Makerspace 3D Art; Interior Design Basics; Steampunk Art; Drawing from Life; Animation JAM!; Fairy Tales, Legends, Myths and Fables; Painting and Mixed Media; 3D Design; Interior Design; Art Reach; and Painting at Life Care Center.
Artworks from the Art Academy Children’s Ceramics and Young Potters workshops will be on exhibit for pick-up on Friday, Aug. 2, from 5-8 p.m. at the University’s Ceramics Studio, located at 835 Broadway, on the corner of Pacific and Broadway in downtown Cape Girardeau.
