A solo exhibition titled “sweetie” featuring print and sculpture artworks from Southeast Missouri State University alumna Ashley Sexton opens Nov. 1 in the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri’s Micro Galleries.
An opening reception is scheduled for 5-9 p.m. that evening at the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri, located at 16 North Spanish Street in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. The exhibition will remain open through Nov. 29. Admission is free.
Sexton, who graduated from Southeast with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in May 2019, uses her art to explore the relationships between false sentimentality, physicality and obsessive collecting.
She is a mixed media artist currently practicing in Cape Girardeau, and is a gallery associate at the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri. She has previously served as gallery manager at Southeast’s Catapult Creative House in downtown Cape Girardeau. Her works have been exhibited regionally and nationally.
