CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., May 8, 2012 – Residents from across the region interested in learning more about asthma are invited to “Asthma Day in the Park” May 19 in Capaha Park in Cape Girardeau as a part of Asthma Awareness Month.
The free health event, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., will offer asthma, cholesterol, blood sugar and body mass index screenings for people of all ages.
Billy Thatcher, a local respiratory therapist, will conduct the free asthma screenings, while health care representatives with Southeast Health On Wheels, known as the S.H.O.W. Mobile, will offer the free cholesterol, blood sugar, and body mass index screenings.
“Asthma Day in the Park” is a joint effort of Southeast Missouri State University’s Center for Environmental Analysis and the Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center.
