Athletic Training Students Receive Honors at Mid America Athletic Trainers’ Association Conference

Alexandra Chis of Fults, Illinois, a senior majoring in athletic training with a minor in nutrition, received the Mid America Athletic Trainers Association (MAATA) Professional Scholarship at the MAATA Annual Conference during the Awards and Hall of Fame Dinner March 16.

This scholarship is awarded to one student in the region. The winner of this award is recognized for their overall academic achievement, scholarship, community service, professional service to the athletic training profession and their future promise as a professional in the field.

Also during this year’s conference, Tuyet “Twix” Truong, a junior majoring in athletic training from St. Louis, Missouri, was selected to present a free communications student session on a case study she completed earlier this year. The title of the presentation was “Aortic Aneurysm and Heart Murmur in a Collegiate Female Gymnast: A Case Report.” Truong presented during the student session of the symposium at the MAATA annual meeting March 17.
