CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Oct. 25, 2010 – Combined auditions for Southeast Missouri State University’s Department of Theatre and Dance’s spring productions, “Anything Goes,” “To Kill a Mockingbird” and “Psycho Beach Party” will be held at 6 p.m. Nov. 15 in the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall.
If auditioning for both shows, 32 bars (ballad or up-tempo) and a 60-second contemporary dramatic monologue are needed. Only the 32 bars are needed for the audition of “Anything Goes” and only the monologue is needed for the audition of “To Kill a Mockingbird” and “Psycho Beach Party.”
The callbacks are scheduled for 6 p.m. Nov. 16. “Anything Goes” callbacks will be in the Wendy Kurka Rust Flexible Theatre, and the callbacks for “To Kill a Mockingbird” and “Psycho Beach Party” will be in Room 403 in the Seminary building. No preparation is required for the callbacks except for being familiar with both scripts to do a cold reading. Those auditioning should dress for movement or dance.
All current and prospective bachelors of fine arts performance majors are required to audition for at least one of the main stage productions and all performance-based bachelors of arts majors are highly encouraged to audition. Everyone auditioning should dress appropriately and should bring a resume, headshot and music if singing.
