Band Program Performing “Dances, Dances, and More Dances”


CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., April 4, 2008 — The Southeast Missouri State University Department of Music Band Program will hold its final concert of the season entitled “Dances, Dances, and More Dances” at 7:30 p.m. April 24 in the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall in the Cultural Arts Center located on the River Campus.

The concert will feature The University Concert Band and the Southeast Wind Symphony. The Concert Band will present a diverse program including, “Sun Dance” by Frank Ticheli; “River of Life” by Steven Reineke; “Havendance” by David Holsinger; “Ireland: Of Legend and Lore” by Robert W. Smith and “The Golden Eagle March” by Harold Walters.      

Following a brief intermission, the Southeast Wind Symphony, the University’s premier wind and percussion ensemble, will continue the program of “dances,” with “Yiddish Dances” by Adam Gorb; “Handel in the Strand” by Percy Grainger, “Ghost Train” by Eric Whitacre, “Four Scottish Dances” by Sir Malcomb Arnold and the “George Washington Bicentennial March” by John Philip Sousa.
